Bog Tour

The Bog Tour (2 hours) begins with a kennel tour, where you'll meet our friendly Alaskan huskies. You'll learn about the dogs, sleds and other mushing equipment and help harness and hook up the teams (up to six teams at once, depending on group size).

PEO dog sled tours offer one to one instruction with an experienced musher on each sled.  One adult passenger rides with a guide on our comfortable toboggan sleids or one guide and one-two adult passengers ride on our double driver sleds.  Children under 60 pounds can ride with an adult on toboggan sleds, and under 100 pounds can ride with an adult on double driver sleds.

We'll start out on our bog trail and then head to Island Lake where you'll explore marshes, bays and the beauty of the lake during our 10 mile run (approximately 1 hour, 10 minutes trail time).  Once on the lake, learn how to drive your team of 8-10 dogs with the coaching and support of an experienced musher with you on the sled or just relax and enjoy the ride. Upon returning to the kennel, give the dogs treats and water and help bring them back to their houses. Get started at 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. $200/adult, $130/child under 12.

Island Lake Tour

Dog sledding season runs December - March

The Island Lake Tour (3 hours) starts and ends like our Bog Tour, but gives you more time on the sled to explore Island Lake, and covers 18 + miles by dog team. This tour is a great option for those looking for additional time to drive the sled or extended trail time (approximately 2 hours trail time). We start at 9:30 am or 1:30 pm. $250/adult, $160/child under 12.

Day of Dogs & Horses

A Full Day of Dog Sledding and Draft Horses (6 hours) is perfect for dog and horse lovers!  This experience combines our popular Island Lake Tour and a hands on sleigh ride experience with a break for a delicious hot lunch. We'll start at 9:30 am and finish at 3:30 pm. Interested in a second day? Help load up the dogs and head to new trails just down the road for an unforgettable mushing experience. $400/adult, $200/child under 12.

Day of Dog Sledding

Tours offered 7 days a week with reservations

A Full Day of Dog Sledding (6 hours) is perfect for someone who wants a more in-depth experience with sled dogs. You will learn all about the amazing life of a sled dog as you explore the beautiful marshes and bays surrounding Island Lake. Develop a close relationship with these beautiful Alaskan huskies and see firsthand what it takes for them to pull a sled on this 20-30 mile dog sled run. $400/adult, $200/child under 12.

Family Tour

The Family Tour (2 hours) is designed for young mushers and their families. Preschool to elementary aged children under 12 love this hands on experience. After a kennel tour, help harness your team, and head to our 1/2 mile bog loop. You'll take turns riding in the sled, and can even hop up on the runners and try driving the team if the conditions allow. You'll have fantastic photo opportunities and great memories. Tours run at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. $450/group of up to 6 participants.

Group Dog Sledding

With Optional

Sleigh Ride

Bring a group to dog sled on a 1/2 mile beginner loop! This is the perfect option for churches, scout groups, groups of friends and family, sports teams or other groups interested in a winter dog sled experience. PEO’s most popular experience combines dog sledding with a horse drawn sleigh ride. When you arrive at the kennel, we’ll start with a clothing check to make sure everyone stays warm during the program. After a large group welcome and sled dog safety talk, you’ll take a tour of the kennel, where you’ll meet many of our 55 friendly Alaskan husky sled dogs, learn about mushing equipment, including how to ride in the sled as a passenger and how to drive the sled, help harness and hook up your dog team(s) and hit the trail. Our sleds carry 1-2 people per sled and you'll always have an experienced PEO guide with you on the sled.  Your group will take turns riding and driving on a 1/2 mile groomed loop, perfect for taking photos and getting lots of time to pet and interact with the dogs. Our double driver sleds allow everyone to drive, or passengers can also relax and enjoy the ride from the sled basket.
