The Whoopie Wall in West Duluth is the city’s most accessible outdoor climbing area. This urban crag offers climbs of 35-50 feet, and is perfect for beginning climbers, youth groups or families, but also offers a challenge for more experienced climbers. It is perfect for anchor building instruction or to learn to rappel.
During this personalized climbing experience, you will receive a full introduction to rock climbing, including cliff edge management, safety equipment, harness and helmet fitting, and an introduction to anchor set up. You will learn how to tie climbing knots, discover belaying techniques, and receive coaching as you climb with an experienced regional climbing guide. You’ll also enjoy stories about the unique natural and geological history of the region and the rocks you are climbing. Try Duluth rock climbing with us!
Please note that this activity is not suitable for some participants with pre-existing health conditions. Consult a physician before climbing if you have unmanaged diabetes, seizures or epilepsy, have cardiovascular disease including high blood pressure, a neck or back condition, or are in the first trimester of pregnancy or are postpartum.
Please note that all participants must read and sign an Assumption of Risk Form/Waiver prior to participation. Minor participants under 18 years old must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver on their behalf. A parent/guardian must be present for the activity.
